Claude Elcock established Elcocks Ltd in 1971 because he realised that professional trades people in Yorkshire needed a greater level of choice and service for their tools and equipment than existed at the time.

His philosophy was simple and still guides the business today. He insisted that Elcocks would offer its customers:

• unparalleled technical know-how, enabling them to make informed choices from the many different types of machinery and equipment available;
• guaranteed levels of support and back up for their purchases, – in particular power tools;
• tools, equipment and services that offered the best in choice and value for trade professionals.

Since then, their business has grown substantially with the addition of branches in Driffield and Goole and the introduction of a wide range of new products and services.

However,  Elcocks Ltd remains a family business with members of the second and third generation of the founder’s family still actively involved in the day to day running of the business and readily accessible to customers. Originally the business traded under the name Elcock Power Tools, reflecting the increased choice of the latest power tools that Claude Elcock wanted to offer the customer. Today, while they still stock an enormous range of power tools from leading manufacturers, their range of products and services has expanded massively to meet the changing demands of the market.
