McCarroll Plant Hire is a 3rd generation family run business . After many years of dealing in the car trade, Barney McCarroll retired and his son Rory took over. He occasionallly hired out cars, which gave him the idea of the present business model.

The amount of equipment gradually increased and the business is still dealing with firms from which Rory bought his first machines. In 2000, Michael, Rory’s son, entered the business and the expansion continued. To date, there are over 1,000 items of equipment for hire.
