GAP shows no signs of slowing down with new batch of telehandlers

GAP Hire Solutions is continuing its heavy investment in new equipment by purchasing over 100 new telehandlers in a deal that’s worth in excess of £4.5m.

The deal, in conjunction with JCB and Manitou, will extend GAP’s fleet offering of plant hire equipment, offering telescopic handlers from 4m to 18m. It comes in response to increasing demand from customers. The telehandlers will be supplied by JCB Scot and various Manitou dealers throughout the UK.

Ken Stewart, Head of Procurement at GAP, commented on the deal, ‘Up until very recently our fleet holding of telehandlers was relatively small both in terms of numbers and sizes available. As a result, we relied heavily on our re-hire partners to fulfil our overall hire requirements. The new holding of telehandlers means we can supply our customers quickly with brand new equipment straight from our depots.’

Ken added, ‘We are lucky enough to enjoy great working relationships with our suppliers. Product availability from JCB and Manitou has been excellent which has allowed us to respond rapidly to customer requirements. We have a number of customers who have specified the Manitou products as they offer sizes which are currently unavailable elsewhere, in particular the MT1840 which can lift 4 tonnes at a reach of 18 metres. The new JCB model 525-60 has also been well received by both depots and customers and we look forward to continuing our long term and excellent working relationship with both companies.’

GAP invests the largest percentage of turnover into new products than any other equipment hirer in the UK. The company has recently invested in tower lighting and tracked dumpers as it seeks to offer the newest market-leading equipment available.
