HHS Hire Expands in Wales with New Customer Distribution Centre

HSS Hire Group plc (“HSS Hire”), the leading national supplier of tool, equipment and related services in the UK and Ireland, has opened its largest ever customer distribution centre in Wales, creating up to 65 new jobs over the next three years.

The new 49,000 sq. ft. facility in Treforest, South Wales will join HSS Hire’s national network of distribution centres, and 288 trading local branches across the UK and Ireland, including one each in Bridgend, Newport, Carmarthen, Merthyr Tydfil, Blackwood, Swansea and two in Cardiff.

The move is part of HSS Hire’s plan to significantly expand services to businesses across South Wales this year, creating 32 permanent jobs immediately.

Located at the Treforest Industrial Estate, just off the A470 north of Cardiff, the new centre will focus on engineering and customer delivery and collection – helping local branches to continue providing high quality service to customers across the region who wish to collect, order or drop off hire equipment in a local accessible branch.

In addition to the full range of tools, equipment and related services which HSS Hire has to offer, customers will also be able to access services provided by two of its specialist businesses: temporary power from ABird, and powered access from UK Platforms. ABird will move from its base in Pontypool, which it has outgrown, and UK Platforms will move from its temporary location in Caldicott – it will be the first time UK Platforms has had a permanent base in South Wales.

Facilities at Treforest will include a 10,000-litre fuel store, an equipment wash and workshops staffed by specialist technicians to ensure the highest quality and maintenance standards across all equipment, as well dedicated storage and truck-loading areas.

John Gill, CEO at HSS Hire Group Plc. said:

“We are continually evolving our network to ensure equipment availability and to drive operational efficiency. The Treforest customer distribution centre will make daily deliveries to ensure tools and equipment are readily available for local businesses. This investment is another big step in delivering the best service we can to our customer base in Wales, and we’re thrilled to be investing in its future.”
