GAP nominated for Herald Scottish Family Business Award 2015

GAP Hire Solutions, the equipment hirer to the construction, maintenance, utilities and events industries, has been nominated for a Herald Scottish Family Business Award as the company continues on with its impressive growth plans.

Nominated in the Scottish Family Business of the Year (Large) category, GAP has grown from one location to over 130 across the UK. Established in 1969 by Gordon Anderson, GAP is still family owned and operated by Gordon’s sons, Iain and Douglas Anderson. The third generation of the family is now involved in the business and are looking forward to the future.

Traditionally known as a Plant & Tool hirer, GAP has grown to 8 divisions, each specialising in their own areas, to offer their customers a complete solution to hiring equipment. The company employs over 1400 people across the UK.

Douglas Anderson commented, ‘This year has been particularly successful for award nominations which we believe is down to our very successful strategy to grow the business through diversification. As we started life in Scotland and with our Head Office in Glasgow, I am delighted with our shortlisting in the Herald Scottish Family Business Awards. We are proud to be a family business where we have the autonomy to make decisions that are right for the business and not shareholders.’

The award nominations follow a successful year for the company, in which they announced a 21% hike in turnover to £143m.
